I really need to set up one of those “keep your unix homedir dotfiles in git” things. So I can copy my settings & config from one machine to another.

Any of yous use anything like that? What do you recommend?

in Ye Olden Days, one could have one's homedir on NFS, but that's not suitable for 2020 😉

@ebel I actually have my dotfiles on a private self-hosted git repository and a bash script that makes links for everything. Its very convenient for new systems.

@frostotron you just manage that manually? I'm hoping there's so sort of more automated way to do it

@ebel Yeah, kind of. I'm too lazy for anything more complicated. Setup is a pretty simple git clone && install.sh though, so you could automate it further with something cron-like.
